Tanco began producing light engineering products in the early 1960s. Today Tanco Autowrap produces the widest range of agriculture wrapping machinery in the world, exporting them to over 35 countries worldwide. The company produces these machines in a state of the art, 7,000 sq.meter, production facility in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow. Tanco has an office in Germany and employs 33 people in total. Tanco has implemented a Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution to manage the financial and management information within the company. This will help streamline processes, improve efficiencies, provide accurate reporting capability and full visibility of work in progress and inventory values.
“We wanted a fully integrated ERP solution that could give us real time information on all facets of the business”, explains Adrian Lacey, General Manager at Tanco. “We needed to be able to capture and calculate precise recovery of the manufacturing and overhead charges and compare our applied costs to our actual costs and analyse the variances in real time”.

I received well informed and honest answers to questions and I was confident that Microsoft Dymanics NAV was the next generation manufacturing solution to replace our old system which would meet our current and future requirements”, says Adrian. Dynamics NAV met the core financial and inventory processes that Tanco required. “We use Microsoft here on a daily basis. Our operating systems, all our servers are Microsoft small business servers and we use Sharepoint so NAV is a good fit for us and we are in the process of implementing these applications into NAV now” continues Adrian.
Prior to using NAV, Tanco would have to manually gather information from production and input it into the system which resulted in monthly management accounts being three weeks late and inaccurate. “We had big variances between our actual costs in terms of manufacturing and what we were actually recovering”, says Adrian. “Now we can capture this information on our live system and get the information in real time which makes the company far more productive”.
The next phase for Tanco is the implement the HR module into the solution.
