Datapac, provides managed IT services to Mason Hayes & Curran

Datapac has secured a contract to provide a comprehensive range of managed IT services to one of Ireland’s leading law firms, Mason Hayes & Curran

Mason Hayes & Curran is a full service business law firm with 320 employees in total, including 145 solicitors and 67 partners. It has offices in Dublin, New York and London and key areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, securities law, tax, financial services and litigation. The law firm has continued to grow strongly over the last number of years and recently won Irish Law Firm of the Year for 2013.

Datapac is now delivering a fully customised managed service to Mason Hayes & Curran. It proactively manages the IT infrastructure to ensure improved performance across key business applications, security and storage, which ensures all critical systems on the firm’s network are running at optimum levels.

Datapac has complete visibility of the Mason Hayes & Curran IT infrastructure from its remote network operations centre (NOC), where a dedicated team of experts monitor the network and servers 24×7 providing the highest levels of service to the 320 employees.

As part of this contract Datapac has implemented a new business continuity solution for Mason Hayes & Curran ensuring it can meet all of its recovery point objectives in the event of a disaster and continue to provide the service expected of a law firm in its position.

Datapac has implemented VMware Site Recovery Manager to simplify the management of disaster recovery at the law firm, with the use of centralised recovery plans that have been set to run automatically at the click of a button. The solution replicates the firm’s virtual machines from its primary site to the disaster recovery site with critical servers replicating every 15 minutes over the firms 1Gbps link. The Datapac solution is ensuring fast and reliable recovery in the event of any disaster.

Datapac is also enabling secure remote working for the law firm, ensuring security and confidentiality is maintained at all times through mobile device management (MDM). The Datapac service ensures any mobile devices used by employees remain secure and compliant at all times and has removed many of the complexities associated with managing multiple devices.

Niall O’Dowd, IT director, Mason Hayes & Curran said, “With Datapac’s managed services we have an IT team that has expertise across a very wide range of technologies. Smartsourcing IT resources makes sense for an organisation such as ours, which relies heavily on cutting edge IT to protect and streamline our operations, without the need for a huge cost outlay.

“We have experienced visible cost benefits and improved productivity from being able to dip into Datapac’s pool of expertise whenever necessary and having them readily available adds a good comfort factor.”

Patrick Kickham, Datapac commented, “We work in partnership with the IT team in Mason Hayes & Curran to deliver proactive managed services that ensure the reliability and availability of its entire infrastructure. Our reporting system shares all of our monitoring information with their internal IT team, ensuring they are aware of everything we are managing and know how the entire system is running.

“This also gives them the peace of mind that we are proactively handling any potential issues, before they happen, so they don’t have to. They can concentrate on more strategic projects and applications.

“This latest managed service win for Datapac follows our recent announcement that we secured €2.8M in new managed service contracts with public and private sector organisations over the last year.”
