Wexford County Council to achieve 57% print saving with Datapac
Datapac has implemented a sustainable managed print service for Wexford County Council which has a projected saving of 57% per year on all printing costs. The solution is also boosting productivity and flexibility for council staff. The number of print, scan and copy devices had grown significantly within the Wexford County Council offices and it needed to find a solution that would consolidate these devices and reduce the cost of printing right across the council.
Datapac was chosen to provide the council with a fully managed print service. This is expected to create savings for the council of 57% compared to previous years, including reductions in energy, paper, maintenance and consumables costs.
The council also projects that it will reduce the number of pages it prints by more than 2 million when compared to previous years. The copy paper saving could account for approximately 240 trees in one year alone.
The reduction in paper usage was a key requirement for this project and the council sought out a solution that would enable duplex printing as standard and provide scan-to-email functions. Staff can now scan their documents directly to their email or scan it directly to a network folder, which has greatly simplified workflows. It has also had a positive impact on the amount of paper being used and staff are noticing significant time savings.
The Datapac solution has reduced the number of printer, copier, fax and scanners from 92 devices to just 30, which include HP Futuresmart multi-functional devices and Safecom secure printing. Additionally, Datapac introduced tailored reporting which has helped provide greater visibility of all costs and usage, and it monitors the entire print system from its Managed Services Centre.
Datapac has provided secure “Follow Me” printing which requires employees to use proximity cards or secure pin numbers in order to release a print job at a device or send a document to print. This facility is ensuring the confidentiality of all documents as well as enabling clear tracking of usage levels.
