Firewalls

Supply, implementation, and ongoing health checking of next-generation firewall platforms for Irish organisations.

Request a Firewall Health Check

A firewall is one of the most critical components in any network environment. It controls what traffic enters and leaves the organisation, enforces segmentation between systems, and forms the first line of defence against external threats. Getting it right matters from day one, and keeping it right requires ongoing attention.

Many organisations have firewalls in place that have not been reviewed since installation. Rule sets accumulate over time, firmware falls behind, and configurations that were appropriate when first deployed may no longer reflect the current threat landscape or regulatory environment. A firewall that has not been maintained is not providing the protection it appears to.

Supply and Implementation

We supply, configure, and install next-generation firewall appliances for organisations across Ireland. Our recommendations are based on the specific requirements of the environment, covering traffic volumes, segmentation needs, remote access requirements, and integration with existing infrastructure.

As a Sophos Platinum partner, we have access to priority support escalation directly with Sophos and are able to offer competitive pricing that reflects our level of partnership.

Firewall Health Check

A firewall’s effectiveness depends on how well it has been configured and how regularly it is reviewed. Our Firewall Health Check is a structured assessment of an existing firewall environment, covering configuration accuracy, rule set relevance, firmware currency, encryption standards, and network segmentation. The output is a clear picture of where the current setup is strong and where it carries risk.

As regulatory frameworks including NIS2 place increasing emphasis on the active management of network security controls, a documented health check also supports an organisation’s ability to demonstrate due diligence.

Firewall Expertise

Our engineers are accredited to implement and support the platforms we recommend. As a Sophos Platinum partner, we combine deep technical capability with direct access to vendor support, ensuring that the firewalls we deploy are properly configured, actively maintained, and backed by a team that knows the platform in detail.

Questions about Networking?

The most common indicators are that the device has reached or is approaching end of vendor support, that firmware updates are no longer available, that the hardware is no longer capable of inspecting encrypted traffic without significant performance degradation, or that the rule set has grown unwieldy and has not been reviewed in some time. If you are unsure, a Firewall Health Check will give you a clear picture of where things stand.

Our Firewall Health Check is a structured assessment of an existing firewall environment. It covers the accuracy and relevance of the current rule set, firmware currency, encryption and cipher standards, network segmentation, and alignment with current security best practice. The output is a clear report identifying where the existing configuration is strong and where it carries risk, along with recommendations for remediation.

At a minimum, firewall configurations should be reviewed annually. In practice, any significant change to the network environment, a new application, a change in remote working arrangements, or an infrastructure refresh, should also trigger a review. Regulatory frameworks including NIS2 expect organisations to actively manage and maintain their security controls, and a documented review process supports that obligation.

Yes. Careful planning is the key to a low-disruption firewall replacement. We work with customers to understand the existing environment thoroughly before implementation, staging the configuration in advance and scheduling the cutover at a time that minimises impact. For most environments, a well-planned replacement can be completed with little to no downtime.
